内容简介:
When I retired from a thirty-six year career of teaching science at both the secondary and college levels, I felt the need to put into words some of the thoughts and conclusions I had formed from both personal and professional experiences. I had read various authors and had admired their ability to express certain basic ideas with a minimum of words. My goal was to express important thoughts in a brief statement of twenty-five words or less. The challenge in meeting my goal was to reduce to one paragraph the essence of certain fundamental ideas, which were derived from observations of people in a variety of places and circumstances. I have attempted to avoid clichis and platitudes but have been only partially successful in this respect. My desire was to express something basic about the human condition with lapsing into simplistic statements more appropriate for greeting cards. While my intent was not to be inspirational, I hope the reader will find some of my sayings to be meaningful in their own lives.
