about the Author
Line Drawings:
All the line Drawings in the book were made by Dunhuang Academy China, which was found in 1944. Dunhuang Academy China is the merely national institution in China for the protection and management of the Dunhuang Caves and Frescoes.
Frescoes:
The Dunhuang Frescos, which were listed as world cultural heritage in 1987, were drawn by the Chinese folk artists a thousand years ago. Those artists were from different dynasties during Chinese history, Different from other Cave Frescos in China, most of the Dunhuang artists were not hired or paid by any ancient Chinese governments. Those artists spend their whole lifetime on drawing the frescos initiatively without leaving a name. The merely spiritual pillar for them is the faith of beauty.
