On June 23, 2004, my husband of thirty-five years took his own life as a result of depression. Over the course of our married life I had written him several love poems, but hadnat written as much the last couple of years of our marriage. Two weeks prior to his death, my husband told me I should start writing again. Never did I imagine that my love poems would be exchanged for something so foreign to me. How could a tragedy that only happened to aother peoplea happen to two people who were so devoted to each other? I had to trust God that He was the only one to have the answer. It is because of God that I was able to express my emotions through my poetry and make the journey from shock to surrender.
