May 1944. All of continental Europe is under the grasp of the Third Reich. Kept busy by the Soviet advance in the east, Germanyas west flank was now weakened. It was the perfect time for the Allies to launch an offensive against the Germans. William McAndrew, a fighter pilot from the RAF and a veteran of some of the greatest battles such as the Battle of Britain and El Alamein, was captured after bailing out of his Spitfire over the French coast of Normandy. After a short stay in a German prison camp, the squadron leader was freed by a commando team (Green Berets). The story follows the life of both the British pilot and the commando team throughout the Battle of Normandy until the Liberation of Caen, on July 19, 1944.
