Our country has fought and died for the rights we so freely take for granted-our freedom of speech, and most importantly, our freedom of choice. We choose our careers, lifestyles and religion. Yet, in recent times, some of these freedoms have been questioned by the government and by the religious extremists. This country is creating new discriminations against the lifestyles of Americans, their religious beliefs, and the truth of science. It's time for the people of this great nation to educate themselves and make our own decisions of what is right or wrong and what our children should be taught. We must explore the questions that others seem so eager to answer for us. Only then can there be a true democracy. If we conform to fit one group of people, we tread on the rights of another. It is important for us as human beings to respect and attempt to understand other beliefs and choices, even when they may not be ours.
