He escapes from jail but how can he prove his innocence while a fugitive? 'River of Gold' is an historical short novel set in Oregon just before Congress declared it a Territory. Mike Trahan plans to build a barge for the river trade in wheat, the source of wealth in Oregon. Everything is upset however, by the discovery of gold in California. Hundreds of wheat farmers abandon their families and the wheat remains unharvested. 'No Man's Land' finds small cattleman, Bart Tyler, turns away with his herd from the winter graze and shelter vital to his survival. Desperate, Bart resorts to an insane strategy.
