Darrel escapes a drunken death in a winter storm when he finds a glittering rainbow of stones in the freezing gutter waters. Warmed and shielded from the winds, he rushes to his favorite fence, Zelda, the gypsy fortune teller. Zelda recognizes the bracelet on Darrelas wrist as Hellas distillation of all evil and lost souls. She orders him to leave, but Darrel is empowered by the Seven Shining Stones. He destroys her place of business and kills her help. Taking the treasures from her safe, a booby-trap sets Darrel and the building on fire. Zelda and her acolyte escape and stand watching the loss of everything. Darrel appears in the show window, a burned-flesh-and-skeleton corpse. He holds the Stones to the glass and glares at the two women. Zelda knows that the Stones will soon rejuvenate Darrel. The battle her gypsy family has fought for generations is once again renewed.
