Slaying Dragons relates events in the life of Wilberforce Ethelbert Cuthbert Jones. The diminutive Wil Jones drives a bus for the Santa Monica Municpal Bus Co. Thatas his day job. When not driving a bus, Wil Jones is Curt Growler, Private Detective. The main thrust of Slaying Dragons concerns the murder of Lorrie OaMalley, a regular rider on Wilas bus. She was single, beautiful and Wilas secret heartthrob, although he was too bashful to pursue a romance. Then, just when Wil finds an opportunity to begin a romance, the girl is killed by two young punks in a botched mugging effort. Egged on by the beautiful Vanessa Baxter, Jamaican bartender at Veniceas Sin Badas Bar, Wil doggedly labors to tempt Lorrieas killers into attacking him so that he can deal with them personally and avenge the beautiful Lorrieas death.
