Damonas Italian lover is an American expatriate who bought a new face after faking her death in order to escape from the mafia. Celeste, the victim-in-waiting, is so uncannily comfortable with death that she has taken a temp job at a funeral parlor. This makes the tale a dark comedy, but itas mostly a mystery that takes many twists and turns before arriving at a surprise ending
