内容简介:
Fictional writer Ike Shane tells the story of his life in his book I Was a Gunfighter. Living in south-central Nebraska in the 1860s, he talks about life when no law was yet in existence. Being a religious man, he had struggled with the fact that he killed men when he avenged the death of his father who was killed by ruthless land-grabbers. So in an effort to ease his conscience, he tells his story in an attempt to justify his actions. The story continues with the remarriage of his mother, his own marriage to Emily Miller, and the birth of their son, Eddy, who makes their life complete. After facing one final gunfighter, Ike vows to never fight again. Wanting now to hang up his gun, he gets a visit from a U.S. marshal, Nate Carpenter, who assures him that what he did in the past was an act of goodness, saving many other lives.
