Delma was born in Lovelady, Texas, on April 22, 1949. She received her primary and secondary education in the public schools of Tucson, Arizona. She later attended Durhamas Business College, the Tucson Skill Center, school of nursing, sign language school, Clark County Community College, Coleman College, and a soul-winning class. Mrs. Baker loves the Lord very much and it is her desire to grow to perfection. She is a member of The Trinity Hope Church Of God In Christ. She has great compassion for people who are hurting, depressed, misunderstood, and cast aside. She loves music, poetry, and various works of art. Her sister Darlene asked, aDelma, what inspired you to write poems?a She replied: aItas just something I was born with. I can make sentences rhyme even when Iam not intending to. Itas my gift from God.a aWhy did you choose to write religious poems?a aEven though I have failed God many times, I know that only what I do for Christ will last. My hope is built on nothing less than Jesusa blood and righteousness.a
