内容简介:

The author, Edward L. Smith, was born in 1947 in the very, very small town of Williston, Florida. He vividly recalls the pain that he endured as a child while being not spanked, but beaten, and he wondered if said punishment was necessary to raise a child successfully to adulthood. In hindsight, the author find humor in the words his mother would tell him prior to a beating: "This is going to hurt me more than it does you." He once suggested to his mother that she forgo the beating if it was going to hurt her too. It was during those years that the author vowed to never, ever spank his children, and he never, ever did. The author firmly believes that if a child is simply taught to "do unto all others as you would have others do unto you," every human being on this planet, regardless of color or creed, will treat all others with respect.
