Julia's Dream is a historical romance which is set in Glasscock County, Texas during the late 1800's. At the age of sixteen, Julia Van Horn survives a rape attempt. To do so, she must use her attacker's own gun to shoot him. He lives, but he tells a very different tale than Julia's about what had taken place on that dark country road. So now, three years later, every available man in Glasscock County is afraid to go near her. Therefore, rather than having to deal with a long line of potential suitors, Julia finds that she has plenty of time on her hands to run the family's ranch, and look after her three younger sisters while her parents take an extended trip back east. So instead of looking into the matter himself, he sends his deputy to do the job. Deputy Patrick Wolf is not certain he wants to be straddled with the chore of babysitting a wealthy ranch owner's daughter either, but he is new in town and he happens to want to do a good job for Sheriff Baker. But when he finds himself thrown into the middle of four beautiful, high-strung, independent young women, he decides he just might have faired better in the midst of a rattle snake den.
