They meet in the spring of each year at the Fish House, a beach cottage on Rhett Island off of the coast of South Carolina, and every fall, they meet again at a lonely mental institution in Washington, DC, to visit their "lost boy," Steve Moss. The Fish House Gang is a rowdy crew, the aging children of Captain Kangaroo, disciples of MEN ARE FROM MARS, and their love for one another has never wavered. But, they all live in the painful shadow of Steve Moss who was driven to insanity while a prisoner of war. When the Fish House Gang was in college, Steve Moss was their brightest star, the best cadet among them, and it was Steve Moss who sacrificed his own future so that they could all graduate.
