However, he had an inward dislike for the racing business and a strong passion for flying. Ken fell in love with Ivy Rose, considered a lowly commoner to Ken's upper crust family. A wartime romance followed and played a key role in Ken's life that adds charm to this novel. His military status and wealthy upbringing brought him in contact with many famous and royal people of the day, including Prime Minister Lloyd George, Field Marshal General Haig and Winston Churchill.
