At the time of its original publication, the selection was unusual for containing a high proportion of works by contemporary writers, together with numerous old favourites. Although poems do not appear in separate sections, they are carefully arranged so that a clear sense of continuity is provided. This volume will remain of value to younger readers and anyone with an interest in poetry anthologies.
