Throughout the history of the spoken word, poetry has been used to express feelings and emotions. These emotions have come in numerous forms and degrees of maturity. Love, the most powerful emotion, has been the vehicle to carry a person to many other exciting destinations. Passion, euphoria, playfulness, and sadness are all a part of the human experience, and the loving heart has visited them all, probably many times over. Contemplating our surroundings, wondering how it all came to be and what lies beyond this world all tend to lead a person into a sense of devotion to life and everything it involves. Simply existing is not living. To fully live we must strive to make the lives of those around us better. The world should be a better place because we were here, not in spite of the fact. Otherwise, we are just taking up space that could be put to better use.
