内容简介:
Born on the cold Frio River in Texas, Dell Ware is orphaned while a teenager. His strong moral values govern him as he buries his parents, hunts wild cattle, then sells the ranch to strike out on his own in post-reconstruction Texas. He learns the need for self-protection at an early age. He champions a young hidalgo in San Antone and is rewarded with a fine Andalusian horse. He starts out for the buffalo hunting grounds, only to be sidetracked by a family in need. His strong sense of aiding those in need finally convinces him to undertake guiding the small group out to Fort Union, New Mexico Territory. The trip is through the vast uncharted land of western Texas and eastern New Mexico. He encounters outlaws, Indians, and Comancheros. Love grows between two young people during their long journey.
