Plans for the ambitious General's Operation Black Gold take him-and sometimes Pearl-to Riyadh, Dhahran, Khamis-Mushayt, Tabuk, and Taif for an in-depth look at U.S. military presence in the Kingdom as well as insights into Saudi culture. Self-centered Pearl delights in plundering the gold souks finding jewelry to enhance her beauty and her role as General's wife. The couple are immersed in events over which they only think they have control, while America's CIA and Saudi Arabia's Royal Family have other plans for the couple's aspirations.
