Just Say Thank You and then Keep Your Mouth Shut

Definitely one of the best books I read last year, though I cannot recommend it to other people since doing so would be passing judgment, which conflicts the main idea of the book. However, if you’ve had some success but not quite where you’d like to be, or if you are described as “smart and sassy” by your co-workers, then you might want to check this book out.

The Success Delusion: the false beliefs of successful people and how they attribute their success to their bad behavior:
Successful people believe they have succeeded, can succeed, will succeed, and will choose to succeed. (Why change it if it's working?)
"I am successful and I behave this way. Therefore, I must be successful BECAUSE I behave this way." The challenge is to make them see that sometimes they are successful IN SPITE OF this behavior.
People will do something—including their behavior—only if it can be demonstrated that doing so is in their own best interests as defined by their own values.
There is a simple way to achieve the goal of "being nicer". All you have to do is "stop being a jerk". The beauty of knowing what to stop is that it is so easy to do.

1. Winning too much
2. Adding too much value
3. Passing judgment
4. Making destructive comments
5. Starting with "No," "But" or "However."
6. Telling the world how smart we are
7. Speaking when angry
8. Need to share our (my) negative thoughts, even if not asked.
9. Withholding information
10. Failing to give proper recognition
11. Overestimate our contribution to any success.
12. Making excuses
13. Clinging to the past
14. Playing favorites
15. Refusing to express regret
16. Not listening.
17. Failure to express gratitude.
18. Punishing the messenger
19. Passing the buck
20. An excessive need to be "me."
