Insanely abstruse and convoluted. Reads like something written to deliberately confuse readers. Not to mention you have to flip the book nonstop for formulas/figures dozens of pages earlier.(It doesn't even have a pdf version!!!) Coupled with a prof who talks and writes BS, you're doomed. I for one was just totally fucked up. Unmitigated disaster. Though didn't work enough on my own, for sure. The ridiculous no-add-drop-beyond-two-weeks rule is also nuts. Anyways. Move on.
It's no much use for learning to actually construct a compiler, either. For that you should probably get a book that illustrates the whole process in detail part-by-part, like Modern Compiler Implementation by Appel, especially considering the scarcity of web resources for this antique topic.
If you really have time/are doing in-depth theoretical study, read it through. Otherwise better think of an alternative strategy for approaching the topic!
