把一句话说成一百句话的功夫

一个简单且不能普适的用户研究方法（Mental Models），被作者写了飒飒300页，一方面佩服作者的严谨态度，另一方面，更是惊叹她的啰唆功力。

从同事这里拿到这本书时还塑封着，看到标题《mental models》，本以为是一本和‘心智模型’相关的著作，讲的是这一类话题：如何通过洞悉心智模型，为用户提供最intuitive，最有affordance的产品。

A mental model is an explanation of someone's thought process about how something works in the real world. It is a representation of the surrounding world, the relationships between its various parts and a person's intuitive perception about their own acts and their consequences. Our mental models help shape our behaviour and define our approach to solving problems (think personal algorithm) and carrying out tasks.

没想到它和我的预期大相径庭，书里面的mental models仅仅是一种用户研究方法。

The top part of the model is a visual depiction of the behavior of a particular audience, faithfully representing root motivations. The bottom part of the model shows various ways of supporting matching behaviors. Where support and behavior are aligned, you have a solution. Where a behavior is not supported, you have an opportunity to explore further.

这个说法玄之又玄，看完了书之后我再来看定义都看得云里雾里。总之，我对这个方法的性价比持严重怀疑态度。


anyway，对我个人来说，这本书也有值得称道的部分，比如chapter 7: interview participants，讲了如何进行无访谈脚本的开放性的用户访谈方法和技巧。还不错。
