In-indentity

In tackling in-identity, the joy club joy develops 16 interrelated but independent stories : the gap between two generations as well as cultural differences in easter and western.

Although written in English, it contains lots of Chinese elements, which relate to plenty of Chinese daily life. It relates in my life in the point that my mother share some aspects discussed in the novel, which makes me understand my relationship with my mother and gain a sense of relief.

What is more is that the conflicts are resolved, perfectly. it seems that the novel is characterised to be sentimental. In a sense, based on my own experiences, the differences existing is left unresolved. on another level, I wonder if it shows the significant power of family on people's life. Despite the fact that they grow up overseas and are educated through western systems, their roots are Chinese.

The language is easy and fluid; I appreciate the critical views on eastern through western perspectives and western eastern. The movie is a good one as well, as it tells four complete stories,dividedly.
