In trouble, confused and angry, thirteen-year-old Michael is sent to spend time with his grandmother, Rebecca, in a small country town called Blest. Michael makes it clear from the start this is not where he wants to be and he wishes only to return to the gang he was running with before finding himself in so much trouble. A strange sign hanging over Rebeccaas door catches his attention and makes him wonder just what he has gotten himself into. Although he is rude and belligerent at first, Michaelas grandmother, a patient and loving Christian woman, slowly but surely begins to win Michael over.
