Humane education is the best...no, the ONLY means we have to accomplish this goal Politics are responsible for this report card: ** In twenty years, Americans have spent $1 billion annually on community-based animal control efforts = $20 billion** In twenty years, Americans have spent $1 billion annually on donations to their favorite national or local organizations dedicated to the same. + $20 billion** In twenty years, 3,000 non-profit organizations dedicated to helping animals have logged an absolute minimum of 25 billion man hours. Our report card after twenty years? A lousy 15% reduction in unwanted deaths. That's about a D-. This can be blamed on our inability to convince so many that the "I'm only one person" excuse is no credible justification, but instead an ignorant person's excuse for lousing things up.
