内容简介:
The New Vazimbans is an episodic fantasy, taking a makeshift, jury-rigged, woman-led society through various agri-social scenarios that focus on rivers and the cultivation of potatoes. The tale offers samples of correspondence and lectures in several languages, as well as Vazimban Malagasy and lemurian chirping. Forced by a helicopter disaster to rush the implementation of a long-range plan for colonization, a small gathering of surviving grandmothers confront kidnapping to set their colony in place. Assisted by correspondence and the spirit visitations of some of those fatally injured in the helicopteras fall and fire, the survivors construct a community. Vital and full of old European humor, the new community honors the spirit and the bones of the past as well as the strengths of the present and the anticipated needs of the future. MinSheng, Corazon Goya and Vehivavy Toucoura produce a mosaic of cultures that reflect their acceptance of the fact that the physically weaker, but mentally strong women have special masteries of life and living systems. Interweavings of philosophy, religion and fetishism produce a blended system of beliefs that expand on the practical spirituality of all.
