Jeffery Lamonth Smith was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1979, son of Dock and Carretta Smith. He grew up reading simple books such as Encyclopedia Brown, but his love for poetry comes from great musical artists of the '70s and '80s. Listening to the RandB greats of this time helped him get the concept of putting words in rhyme. He started writing poetry at the young age of eight (often being paid by guys to write poems for their girlfriends). This book is a collection of some of his best poems that share his experiences and beliefs. Through high school he was an average student maintaining a B average. After graduating he spent a year and six months attending East Field Community College. Unable to give complete focus to school he took two years off. Upon convincing from his now wife Traci Smith, he enrolled at Mountain View Community College. After three years he graduated with a 3.25 average and received his associate degree in business administration. He now attends the University of Texas at Arlington at which he maintains a G.P.A. of 4.0. He is currently seeking a bachelor's degree in education with an emphasis in math and Spanish. Besides writing poetry and going to school, he loves playing basketball and other recreational sports. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and beautiful daughter Destini. He finds it very relaxing to sit and watch the skylights of downtown Dallas.
