内容简介:
For the interview, Arthur DeMolay wore a striped, button-down shirt, jeans, and a pair of Doc Martens, the sort of neutral outfit that was stylish enough to pass at the club but practical enough to wear grocery shopping or to the Laundromat. What one wore to an interview at a cemetery was beyond him. A suit and tie seemed too dressy, too snobbish for a job that basically required you to play in the dirt all day long. On the other hand, to wear sweats and a pair of holey sneakers might show a lack of respect for the position of gravedigger, not to mention the cemetery or even, perish the thought, the deceased themselves. He sighed and rolled down his window, letting a stream of damp, morning air play across his cheeks. Out of sorts already, and he hadn't even glimpsed the first tombstone yet.
