内容简介:
In this adventure, Darren McManus is suffering from a deep depression. After a close but miraculously failed suicide attempt, he grudgingly cooperates with his doctors to find a cure for his mental state, all the while secretly preparing for his next attempt to kill himself if the desire returns. But still questioning his strange survival, his search to discover the roots of his own spirituality draws him to a local church, where he attends regularly, but silently disagrees with much of the ministeras teachings. Later, his involvement with this church leads him reluctantly on a short trip into the Congo as a temporary missionary, even though he is neither qualified nor feeling a personal desire to go. When his plane crashes over uncharted wilderness, Darren is taken in and nursed back to health by the Tochoabal people. But now, as he comes to love this gentle tribe, he must learn to survive among wild animals and the elements. Will this situation lead him into further depression and possible death? And there are other native tribes in the region; some peaceful and some warlike. If he survives, what will his life be like? And if he makes it back to civilization, how will his time in the jungle have changed him? Will his depression become even worse, or will he grow from this experience? Deep in Darrenas spirit, a beast and boy are searching for answers to questions they donat know they have.
