Keegan Charles MacIntosh, Sr. was born with hemophilia. Hemophilia is a genetic disease, almost exclusive to males, where blood does not clot properly. When Keegan was fourteen, he visited a children's hospital in Hungary. Keegan's clowning antics, to cheer up a terminally ill boy, brought about his nickname as "The Lonely Clown." Keegan has learned to overcome many obstacles in his life. Over the past twenty years, HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, has claimed the lives of seven of Keegan's male family members: his four hemophiliac sons, his two younger hemophiliac brothers, and his hemophiliac cousin. Prior to the safeguarding of the blood supply in 1986, hemophiliacs were playing a game of Russian roulette with HIV, due to their Factorate medication, which controlled their free bleeding. However, Keegan was fortunate in that he did not become infected with HIV, since he did not receive a tainted batch of Factorate.
