A shaft of light was enough for me to realize the form was a rabbit enveloped in blood. This was not from an animal attack. The oozing liquid covered the rabbit from the tips of his ears to his paws. I examined it closely. The rabbit still had all its fur. No wounds were visible. What could cause something like this? Quickening my pace, I soon came to a clearing near the cabin. It looked like Custeras Last Stand. All sorts of dead animals cluttered the large open area. As with the rabbit, blood totally covered each one. By now, I was really freaked. What the hell is going on? Over the Hill and Picking up Speed is a potpourri of works consisting of 47 short stories, memoirs and poems written by sixteen seasoned citizens, ranging in ages from 63 to 91 years, who belong to the Writers Group of Sun City Center, Florida. Some of the articles are true and introspective, but most of the stories are works of fiction with clever moments and ironic twists along the way. No two articles are interconnected; therefore, the order in which the stories are read is unimportant.
