Volume 1 of 2. This work is a historical and critical introduction to the final philosophy as issuing from the harmony of science and religion. The present volume may be regarded as the first fruits of an educational experiment thus begun, and for a time successfully pursued. But it also contains philosophical opinions and doctrines which are of more general interest, and it may, therefore, be judged upon its own merits by the wider public to which it is now offered. Part I discusses the philosophical parties as to the relations between science and religion; Part II presents the philosophical theory of the harmony of science and religion.
