The story is true, but fictionalized, in that all the names have been changed to protect the guilty. Upon completing his sentence for bank robbery, Dan attempted to pick up the pieces of a life that had been shattered by his activities and his use of drugs and alcohol. Dan's difficulties with the federal authorities did not cease, however. In 1995, Mr. Duncan was again arrested for a bank robbery that had occurred in Palm Beach, Florida, in May of 1991. Though Mr. Duncan maintained his innocence and the government was never able to place him in Palm Beach at the time of the robbery-nor at any other time in his life-Dan was unable to pinpoint his whereabouts on the afternoon of that event. The robbery, which failed, had been conducted in a manner very similar to that related in Forfeiture, and was described by the government as being so unusual that it had to have been committed by Dan Duncan. Based entirely upon Dan's past conviction-and to some extent, this book-Mr. Duncan was again convicted, and sentenced to an additional nine years in federal prison. The circumstances surrounding that event will be the subject of the author's next book, to be titled Justice Or Revenge. Look for it in the near future.
