Elsa is shocked and miserable when her husband Morgan announces he wants to move to a zendo many miles from the house they recently bought and which she loves. Her passion for weaving doesn't compensate for his loss, but his best friend Jerome, a political activist, tries. Elsa is not immune to Jerome's charms, but she also wants to get to the truth of her own life. Since her childhood on a Midwestern farm, Elsa has moved to a cosmopolitan city where everyone lives as if on stage and everything one does is a political act. Faced with domestic crisis, Elsa must go deep into her own certainties as she negotiates this shifting world. Magic is often afoot, however, and friendships deepen.
