to be an essentialist or a non-essentialist

LESS BUT BETTER,and to create the highest contribution(我理解成:少而精并且能够使得贡献毛益最大化)。
The disciplined pursuit of less:
1.Explore:Discerning the trivial many from the vital few
2.Eliminate:Cutting out the trivial many
3.Execute:Removing obstacles and making execution effortless
-Say"Yes.What should I deprioritize?"Saying no to a senior leader at work is almost unthinkable, even laughable, for many people. However, when saying yes is going to compromise your ability to make the highest level of contribution to your work,it is also your obligation. In this case it is not only reasonable to say no,it is essential. One effective way to do that is to remind your superiors what you would be neglecting if you said yes and force them to grapple with the trade-off.(这种把活摊给别人看的做法值得借鉴,由此去权衡手头上的任务。)
-I can't do it,but X might be interested.(觉得这一条有意思是因为身边会有人替你说这种话的人实在太少了,多数人宁愿自己累着把任务接下,然后就加班加点熬夜甚至最后不能完成任务也会把活接下,但是明显这种说法你会得到的contribution大多了。)
A non-essentialist thinks almost everything is essential. But an essentialist thinks almost everything is nonessential.
之所以两者在看法上有这种偏歧的原因在于non-essentialists view opportunities as basically equal but essentialists distinguish the vital few from the trivial many。
-As you evaluate an option, think about the single most important criterion for that decision, and then simply give the option a score between 0 and 100.If you rate it any lower than 90 percent, then automatically change the rate to 0 and simply reject it.This way you avoid getting caught up in indecision,or worse, getting stuck with the 60s or 70s.Think about how you'd feel if you scored a 65 on some test. Why would you deliberately choose to feel that way about an important choice in your life?
