I want to make two key points before commenting on the book:
1. Learning is a continuous and dynamic process which is both the cause and the effect of itself.
2. Education by parent still need to follow the 4 step process of learning - 1) Instruction 2) Transfer of learning 3) Deep Practice 4) Mentoring and Feedback
To me, the book is not really about parenting tips but about the cultural and philosophical approach to setting up the learning environment. The success (or failure) of taking Chua's approach is not determined by the merit of her methods, but defined by the larger environment (family background, parents' characters, social status of the parents and the peers, etc.). I highly appreciate the book because I can feel the empathy and it definitely serves a great reference for my own parenting - again, not the techniques but the cultural setting which enables or hinders certain approach.
